Chopard is a Geneva-based luxury watch, jewelry, and Accessories Company founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard at the age of 24. If We see long back a go at Circa 1730, when early Chopard family members lived off the land, in the depths of the Jura mountains of Switzerland. It was usual for farmers to earn extra income during harsh, long, winter months by accepting piecework for watch components. Some specialised in case work, dials, or even individual movements. On the advice of his father (Felicien), Louis-Ulysse Chopard learned watchmaking but he was different from his peers and ancestors. He did not wish to work at home to supply finished watches or components to companies that branded them as their own. This was common as well-known Brands were being incorporated at Saint-Imier, La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. Young Louis-Ulysse wanted to make and sell watches with the name Chopard on the dial so at the age of 24 years, he took over an old stone building in Sonvilier village, halfway between Saint-Imier and La Chaux-de-Fonds. The simple act of painting his initials L.U.C. directly on the stone facade was the start of the company in 1860.

In 1860, Edouard Heuer, a young Swiss watchmaker, founded his own workshop, the Edouard Heuer & Co Watches Company, in St-Imier, Switzerland. Edouard had an obsession: to master time and explore the tiniest fractions of this mysterious and mystical dimension with complicated mechanical instruments.

153 years later, TAG Heuer is the world leader in prestigious and high-precision chronographs. One of the most innovative Swiss watchmakers ever, Jack has filed many major patents as well as introducing breakthrough innovations such as the first-ever self-winding mechanical chronograph, the legendary Monaco Chronomatic 11, in 1969.

Today, our watchmakers and engineers stay true to Jack’s passion for innovation by constantly challenging conventional wisdom and taking the Brand to unsurpassed levels of precision.  As testimony to this unique expertise and our contribution to the legend that is Swiss watchmaking, TAG Heuer has been awarded no fewer than 8 Awards at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in the past 11 years.

Like many other American success stories, Luminox came from a forward-thinking individual realizing a need in the market and meeting it. Barry Cohen, a watch industry veteran, came across a Swiss self-powered illumination system and knew that it would make watches more visible and easier to read in low or no light situations. He asked his friend Richard Timbo if he would like to join him. Luminox was born in 1989 (Lumi is Latin for light while Nox is Latin for night), driven by a commitment to offer cutting-edge luminescence and readability in its line of high-performance sports watches.

 The Navy SEALs and More

The Luminox Navy SEAL watch is the timepiece that made Luminox famous. In 1993, the Assistant RDT&E Officer for the Navy SEALs, Nick North, was asked to seek a more dependable watch for night missions and found the solution at a trade show where he discovered Luminox. He worked with Cohen to develop a watch specifically for them and a revolution was born.
